This article examines the collaborative roles of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Minister of Finance in driving economic growth and macroeconomic stabilization. Nigeria’s economy faces persistent challenges, including high inflation, exchange rate volatility, structural rigidities, and fiscal deficits. This study utilizes a mixed-methods approach, combining secondary macroeconomic data analysis from 2016 to 2026 with qualitative policy assessments. The findings reveal that independent, uncoordinated operations between monetary and fiscal authorities exacerbate macroeconomic instability. Conversely, synchronized policy execution— where monetary tightening is supported by fiscal discipline and revenue diversification—significantly enhances price stability and GDP growth. The study concludes that joint institutional frameworks are vital for sustainable economic health. Recommendations include establishing a formalized, data-sharing macroeconomic coordination council and aggressively expanding the non-oil tax base.
